PYG trip to Keswick - August 2012 After the success of our trip to Greenbelt last year, the youth group descended onto the the Carlisle Diocese Youth Centre at St John the Vale, Keswick for a weekend of activities and prayer. We had 20 children in our group and were pleased to welcome our new Year 6s who many would be moving onto Ripley in the autumn. The accommodation was dormitory based and set not far from both Keswick and Derwentwater. Friday started with ghyll scrambling which was fortunate as the weather continued its usual pattern of rain for the summer. Friday evening was spent with a short introduction to prayer as well as watching the DVD The Prestige - highly recommended. Saturday brought brighter weather for our walk which was ably led by the Kingcoxs and Millers from the Youth Centre to Keswick and back. There were some beautiful views across the lake though many of us (mainly the leaders!) had sore feet by the end. In the evening, we prepared for Sunday with reflective prayer. The children even personalised their bread which was used for Sunday's communion service. Sunday was finished by a service led by Joel Love as well as a treasure hunt with cryptic clues and then a well deserved Sunday roast. Many thanks again go to those who helped especially Joel, Miriam, Bridget, Chas, Jonny, Cathy and Chris our Vicar. Looking forward to next year already! David Cheung
